Jerry Pate, President
Design experience and background
Jerry has been active in golf course design for more than twenty years. His experience as a competitor at
the highest levels of the game gives him a unique insight into the qualities that make a golf course challenging
and enjoyable. Jerry’s knowledge of environmental, construction and maintenance issues has helped him build
a reputation for designing quality courses.
In addition to his award-winning solo designs, Jerry has teamed with other leading architects,
including Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Bob Cupp and Ron Garl. These collaborations have provided invaluable experience
and exposure to a variety of design methods and philosophies.

Steve Dana, Senior Designer
Design experience and background
Steve joined Jerry Pate Golf Design, Inc. in 1999. He earned a degree in architecture from Princeton University,
where he focused on green architecture and sustainable development. At Princeton, he served as captain of the
golf team and was a two-time Academic All-American.
Steve began his work in golf course design as a construction foreman for Tom Fazio’s
crew at the acclaimed Pelican Hill Golf Club (North Course). He first worked with Jerry Pate at Rancho La
Quinta, where he served as on-site design coordinator.
At Jerry Pate Golf Design, Inc., Steve is responsible for all phases of golf course design
and project management. Steve is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Eric Schade, Design Associate
Design experience and background
Eric joined the firm in January of 2006 after studying landscape architecture at the University of Michigan. While at Michigan he was awarded the Bill Johnson Grant to study the great linksland of Scotland.
At Jerry Pate Golf Design, Eric is responible for the production of golf course plan documents and assists in all phases of golf course design.
Eric is also responsible for golf course irrigation design for Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation, Inc.
James Pate, Design Associate
Design experience and background
Jamie recently joined Jerry Pate Golf Design in October of 2006 after graduating from the Florida State University, where he studied history and anthropology. Jamie's enjoyment of art and architecture/design, along with music has contributed to his creativity and great imagination.
Having been around golf and design for most of his life, Jamie has acquired a keen and imaginative understanding of nature and course layouts, which aid in all facets of design.
At Jerry Pate Golf Design, Jamie assists with all phases and aspects of design.
