ECHO Acquires Leading Manufacturer of Chipper/shredders
and Agricultural Products
Chicago, IL – April 13, 2006 - ECHO Incorporated
announced today that it has acquired the assets of
TerraMarc Industries, the manufacturer of Bear Cat
chippers and chipper/shredders, Lockwood potato planting
and harvesting implements, and Crary agricultural equipment.
Located in West Fargo ND, the company will operate
as a subsidiary of ECHO Incorporated under the name
Crary Industries, Inc. The company’s 2005 sales
were in excess of $35 million, with employment of 180
people. President Chuck Crary, founder of Crary Company – predecessor
company to TerraMarc Industries- will continue to lead
the organization.
“The Bear Cat line of products complements
our current line of high performance outdoor power
equipment,” says Joe Fahey, Vice President of
Marketing for ECHO Incorporated. “Our common
channels of distribution and focus on product quality
will strengthen our offering to the markets we serve.” Both
ECHO and Bear Cat products are leaders in the homeowner,
commercial landscape, tree services, rental equipment,
and municipal markets.
The Lockwood brand of potato equipment is highly
respected worldwide since the 1930’s, and Crary’s
agricultural products are well known for providing
increased harvesting efficiency. “These popular
agricultural brands add strength and diversity to ECHO’s
overall product portfolio,” adds Fahey. “ECHO
is fully committed to seeing these brands continue
to grow in their respective markets.”
Terms of the sale were not announced.
