TIFWAY
BERMUDAGRASS:
Wausau Farms,
Inc. produces genetically matched Tifway Bermudagrass,
commonly referred to as "Tifton 419".
Tifway was released in 1960 as
a result of the cooperative efforts of the United States
Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Plain Experiment
Station, and the U.S. and Southern Golf Associations.
Tifway was developed to provide
high quality turfgrass for golf course fairways and
roughs. It is also well suited for athletic fields and
home lawns.
Characteristics:
Wide adaptation throughout the warm-humid and warm semi-arid
climates of the southern United States.
Medium fine texture and high shoot density.
Dark green color with minimal seedhead formation.
Good low temperature color retention and hardiness with
good spring green-up rate.
Characteristics are well known and documented throughout
the golf industry.
